On July 1st of 2000, Fr. Zbigniew Grankowski was appointed Pastor of St. Cunegunda Parish in Detroit in addition to continuing responsibilities as Pastor of St. Barbara Parish in Dearborn.
On July 1st of 2010 we celebrated ten years of this "cluster." We like to refer to this celebration as ten years as one FAMILY.
St, Barbara and St. Cunegunda are two parishes each with their own unique identity but with a shared purpose to work together to build the Body of Christ.
Both St. Barbara and St. Cunegunda were formed over 80 years ago to serve the growing number of Roman Catholics moving to Dearborn and Detroit from Poland. Not much has changed in the make up of our community. We continue to welcome people from all over the world who now call Southeastern Michigan home. In fact, when you visit us, don't be surprised if you hear readings and songs in different languages, like Polish and Spanish!
